The first of five buses suspected of ferrying "phantom voters" to the Indera Kayangan by-election in Perlis detained by the police on Saturday, 19 January 2002. Many more buses managed to sneak in earlier before these last five were detected. During the detention of this bus, the Barisan Nasional supporters attacked one of the policemen and stomped on him as he lay on the ground. The "voters" were not allowed to get off the bus and later the traffic police escorted the five buses out of the area.
