Dr Badrulamin not told of his crime

Dr Badrulamin Bahron was not told what crime he had committed said his wife, Zumrah Husni.

"Badrulamin was released from ISA (Internal Security Act) detention almost four months ago under strict terms and conditions," said Zumrah, yesterday, during a press conference at the National Justice Party headquarters.

Amongst these conditions are:

  1. He is to live in the Gombak area and may not leave the area without police permission.
  2. He is not to change his residential address without police permission.
  3. He is to report to the nearest police station every Monday between 8.00am to 6.00pm.
  4. He is to remain indoors and is not to leave the house between 10.00pm every night and 5.00am the following morning.
  5. He is to maintain the peace and behave himself.
  6. He is not to address any public function or give public talks.
  7. He is not to attend a public assembly or function.
  8. He cannot hold any position or get involved in any political party or trade union or even act as its advisor.

"The police have not informed me which of these conditions he has violated," said Zumrah.

"On Wednesday night, the police phoned asking Badrulamin to report to the Rawang Police Station the following day. On Thursday morning, Badrulamin and I drove to the Rawang Police Station – he went inside to report as required while I waited in the car."

"After half-an-hour, one of the police officers came out and asked me to go into the police station," added Zumrah. "Inside the police station, they told me that Badrulamin was being re-arrested under the ISA and would be sent back to Kamunting. They never told me why other than that he had violated the terms of his release. They would not, however, confirm which of these terms had been violated."

"If Badrulamin really had violated the terms of his release then it is now a criminal case," stressed Zumrah. "If he has committed a crime then why not charge him in court? Why re-arrest him under the ISA? Take him to court and let the court decide whether my husband is a criminal or not."
